Comair is a South African airline company offering domestic flights in SA as a British Airways (BA) franchisee. Comair also operates as a low cost domestic carrier under the Kulula Airlines brand.


Comair's franchise agreement with British Airways was signed in 1996, with BA acquiring a minority shareholding in Comair during early 2000. Kulula Airlines was launched as a wholly owned Comair subsidiary in 2001. Kulula.com has since become a household name when it comes to cheap flights in SA. The airline is known for its leftfield advertising and cheeky livery, in particular.


Comair/BA also has codeshare agreements in place with Cathay Pacific Airlines, Iberia Airlines, KLM Airways as well as their own low-cost carrier, Kulula Airlines.

Operating out of Johannesburg and offering cheap flights to Cape Town, and Durban, it is one of the more established players in the local cheap flights market. In addition, it also offers flights to Port Elizabeth (PE) Harare (Zimbabwe) and Gaberone (Botswana), Mauritius, Maputo (Mozambique).
