South Africa’s latest affordable airline Fly Blue Crane is launching its introductory flights on 1st September from ‘OR Tambo’ to Kimberley, Bloemfontein’s ‘Bram Fischer’ and Nelspruit’s ‘Kruger Mpumalanga International’ airports affording leisure, business and overseas travellers additional access to these areas with superb personal service in their fleet of (50-seater) ‘Embraer 145LR’ jet aircraft, designed for safety and comfort within noise-free cabins.

In-Flight

In addition to being relaxed and comfortable, passengers have the ‘flyblue’ in-flight magazine to read through when not gazing out of the window or indulging in a range of appetizing wholesome snacks and meals, meticulously prepared including hot and cold refreshments, all of which are complimentary.

Check-In

Passengers just need their booking confirmation number to easily check-in via their tablets, mobile phones or online using their laptop or computer. Alternatively check-in at the airport with the necessary identification of a valid passport, driver’s licence or ID document. Pre-seating can be requested online or at check-in but cannot be guaranteed.

Luggage

Free luggage allowance for adults is one bag with a weight of up to 20kg including one piece of hand luggage not exceeding a weight of 7kg with additional items of a small handbag or slim-line laptop bag.

Minors aged between two and 11 years are permitted one free checked item not weighing more than 20kg and a collapsible push-chair or car seat as well as hand luggage with a weight of no more than 7kgs and a small personal bag. Push-chairs and car seats will be carried in the hold of the aircraft.

Extra luggage for adults can be purchased within 24-hours of departure that affords a 30% discount when handled online but no extra luggage is permitted for children.

Excess Luggage

Extra bags that weigh up to 20kg incur a fee of R228 (including VAT) per additional bag, online while at the airport the fee per extra bag is R342 (including VAT).

Overweight Luggage

Luggage weighing more than 20kg but less than 32kg that is part of checked luggage will incur excess luggage fees as reflected above.

Overweight Extra Luggage

A fee of R456 for overweight extra luggage is incurred when dealt with online or via the call centre while at the airport a fee of R684 will be applicable with fees including VAT.

Sporting Equipment

Certain items may be carried by passengers as part of their free baggage allowance while other particular items will afford passengers an additional 15kg. Check online to see what is applicable for sporting equipment you need to carry. The airline will not be held responsible for damage to any sporting items that are not properly packaged.

Prohibited Items

At check-in you will be questioned with regard to dangerous or prohibited items that may not be carried in your check-in or carry-on luggage such as sharp items, hazardous gases or any item depicting a dangerous object.

Special Assistance

Fly Blue Crane is dedicated to ensuring that mothers-to-be and special needs passengers are effectively accommodated and to assist them in achieving this, require these passengers to make known any special assistance related to medical needs or embarkation and disembarkation assistance within three days prior to their planned flight. These reservations will be confirmed once the airline has received any necessary required medical clearance. Special needs passengers must be at the boarding gate no less than 45 minutes to departure and are not permitted to be seated in rows next to, behind or in front of over-wing emergency exits. Minors/Unaccompanied Minors/Pets

Fly Blue Crane will ensure the safety of your unaccompanied minor (no younger than five years) including a fun and enjoyable flight. Children are classified as being between the age of 2 and 11 and travel at 50% of an adult fee while infants aged between 1 day and 2 years travel for free. When booking your flight, inform the agent of any additional needs you may have. At this stage the airline does not cater for the carrying of pets or animals.

Payment

Passengers can pay at ‘OR Tambo’, ‘Kimberley’, ‘Bloemfontein’ or ‘Nelspruit’ airports or online with their ‘Visa’ or ‘MasterCard’ credit cards, the only two cards applicable at this time.
