Fastjet and Expedia join forces to sell Fastjet flights internationally

Leading African low cost airline fastjet recently announced that the company has entered a partnership agreement with Expedia, the biggest online travel company in the world.

This agreement will see fastjet flights being marketed to millions of air travellers already using the Expedia Group’s portfolio of brands to meet their travel related requirements. The Expedia Group’s sites include full-service online travel agency Hotwire and Egencia, one of the top 5 global travel management companies service corporate entities in over 60 countries.

With air travel volumes to Africa steadily increasing, the addition of fastjet flights to Expedia’s portfolio makes commercials sense.  Fastjet commercial head Ellis Cain-Jones is quoted as saying that the partnership was a “significant step forward for the airline. Our partnership with Expedia represents a giant leap in the implementation of our digital strategy.”

Fastjet’s initial focus was on increasing regional flight bookings in South and East Africa, with international expansion to follow. The Expedia deal is the first step towards developing these markets.
