During a Business Day TV interview released today, FlySafair CFO Elmar Conradie talks about the airline’s challenges in getting its operating license. According to Conradie, the airline is optimistic that it will be able to launch domestic scheduled flights “early” into the second half of 2014.
FlySafair will be launching at least 3 return flights along the Cape Town to Johannesburg route, yet ticket prices and when ticket sales will commence currently remains to be confirmed.
Significantly, the airline managed to retain most of its staff in the time it wasn’t able to operate. Most of these employees were temporarily redeployed into the company’s existing business, Safair.
FlySafair will be operating their scheduled flights between Cape Town and Johannesburg using two Boeing 737-400, each capable of carrying up t0 165 passengers.
