Air Namibia is the flag carrier airline of Namiba. Wholly owned by the Namibian Government, Air Namibia operates local, regional and international cargo and passenger flights from its international air traffic hub in Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako Airport.
Air Namibia Destinations
The airline currently flies to 16 destinations in Africa in Europe, however a large percentage of its capacity is utilised on the Windhoek-Cape Town and Johannesburg-Windhoek routes. The airline also has a code sharing agreement with Kenya Airways, effectively increasing its regional reach:
Current destinations include Frankfurt, Johannesburg, London, Luanda, Luderitz, Lusaka, Maun, Mpacha, Ondangwa and Oranjemund.
Following Namibia’s independence, Namib Air was renamed, and relaunched as Air Namibia in 1991. It was also during the early 1990s that the airline commenced long haul flights to Europe (London and Frankfurt, in particular).
The Air Namibia Fleet
Air Namibia currently operates a fleet comprising of Airbus A319s, A330s and Embraer ERJ 135s – 10 aircraft, in total. The fleet previously included Airbuses, Beechcraft and Cessna aircrafts as well, however these have subsequently been retired.
